今天我们要学的词儿是status quo。

Status quo是指现状。

Maintain the status quo
是维持现状；

restore the status quo
是恢复原状。

美国国会在移民改革议案的问题上继续存在严重分歧。商务部长古铁雷斯表示，
"We should not walk away and keep the status quo,"
意思是我们不应该就此放弃，维持现状。

他接着说，
"Walking away from the bill suggests that we are comfortable with the status quo,"
是说放弃这项议案，就意味着我们对现状感到满意。
