In a deep palace, how could I hear the call?
hundred thousand soldiers, all laid down arms,
Not even one was manly enough to stand tall.

The king had raised on wall the flag of truce,
And I in palace deep had heard no news.
When fourteen thousand all disarmed at front,
Not even one was manly brave to count.

翻译是按十音一句，五步抑扬格（iambic pentermeter），临行韵脚。
