You made me clearly realize that I need to strengthen my muscle, which is the foundation of speaking a new language properly, but I have never seriously worked on it before. I will work hard on it from now on.

As for the ears, it could be true that it takes longer time for us to tell all the sounds by our ears than we could say them correctly. Similar situation had happened at the time I corrected my Chinese accent. The capability to distinguish n/l, in/ing pairs by ear came at least 5 years after I could say each of them correctly.
