回复:【大湖两地《闲谈漫笔》德利一语·《书签》0803】

Dear Lakeshore,

Thank you for your so long a letter brimming with warm feeling which must have taken you much time and also for the beautiful songs and music specially prepared for me!

As you said, I also miss breezes, especially the spring breezes, warm and confortable, which make me happy and gay. But it’s sorry to learn that “the breezes now at the lake are chill and chilly”.

As for the song sung by John Denver, this is the first time for me to hear it. It’s really a very nice song by which he expressed his love for Shanghai, especially for Shanghai’s breezes. But I have to say sorry again because I’ve never really been in Shanghai. It is only in the winter of 1985 that I passed Shanghai when I came to the America the first time. But then I had to stay in the airport. Since you said in your letter that Shanghai is a typical nowadays' version of New York city, I can just imagine how great Shanghai is because I’m working in New York everyday. I hope and am convinced that I’ll have a chance to go Shanghai sooner or later. As I mention this phrase now, I’d like to say that the phrase in your letter “if he would had not left us too earlier” should be “too soon”.

I also like the music played by 12 Girl’s Band. But I love the first song mostly. I like the words, the music, the pictures and the people. They make me recall my childhood and especially the warm spring breezes which helped me fly kites as the pictures showed to me. When young, I also liked to run in the wide beautiful fields to catch butterflies, dragonflies and little birds.

Last but not least, I’d like to say thank you again for your concern. I’m doing well. Have a nice weekend.
