"Take part" is to participate and be actively involved in something with other people
Two usages:
1. To share or participate in something.
eg. - They wouldn't let me take part in their game.
- He swore that he took no part [=was not involved] in their activities
2. To support or side with someone in an argument. In this usage, a noun or pronoun is typically used between "take" and "part."
eg. Thank you for taking my part at the meeting. I was starting to feel like I was on my own there.

I used to skate (and fall on ice
) each winter in the 7.8km long Rideau Canal Skateway (see net-pic below) when I lived and worked in Ottawa, and love to watch figure skating and ice dancing programs.
Today is the last day of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. That reminds me of the Olympic Creed:
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."
So, congrats to all who took part in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, win or lose, you all have fought well!
Cheers!
