I used to live on the same block as the one and only Xinhua booktore in town
and saved breakfast money to buy a-dime-a-dozen graphic novels, aka little kids'
books(LKB). A typical page was about 6"x4" with a couple of lines of caption
under a boxed black-and-white drawing. In a few dozens of pages, an LKB usually
told a short story or one episode of a saga. I would sit still for hours with a
pile of classics like General Yue Fei, Journey to the West, or the Three Kingdoms.
