Chest thumping
Hitting or beating one's chest, often associated with gorillas or other animals displaying dominance. It refers to behavior, usually by men, that is intended to show how powerful and strong they are, often in an arrogant or boastful way. It can also refer to forceful or proud behavior meant to demonstrate one's success or power. The term can be used both literally, to describe the action of hitting one's chest, and figuratively, to describe the act of boasting or self-assertion
