My take: none of us are perfect and we all have been broken in our lives one way or another. The important thing is to keep being positive, to let the light (== hope) get in and to stay away from the darkness.
Oh, talking about light, most neighbours on our short street have put up their Xmas lights a week ago. So we did the same yesterday, around a small front window (pic below), to keep up with the Joneses.
