APAD: “Eat when hungry, drink when dry”

"Eat when I'm hungry, drink when I'm dry" is a line from an old Irish folk song.  The full line is: "I'll eat when I'm hungry, I'll drink when I'm dry, and if the moonshine don't kill me I'll live 'till I die"

I think this song shows how much Irish people love their drinks, oh no, not water, but alcohol. 鬼脸

Newfoundland (and Labrador == NL, Canada) has one of the largest Irish diasporas per capita in the world. Some parts of NL have a majority population that is genetically Irish, going back almost 200 years.  If you ever had a chance visiting St. John's, capital of NL, you would be amazed at the number of pubs there.

Hubby's mother was a 2nd generation Irish Canadian. The first time when he spoke the saying to me, we were in Hardy the car driving somewhere and I felt thirsty but couldn't find the water bottle. In haste, I replied back: "drink when you drive?" and unintentionally created a joke due to my mishearing. :-)

So the purpose of today's APAD is: don't drink and drive, and it doesn't matter how lovely the drinks are.

Oh, if you haven't yet, please do go and visit Newfoundland, especially Gros Morne National Park, for its textbook example of plate tectonics and stunning beauty.
