We soon believe what we desire.

This proverb warns us that our desires and wishes can sometimes cloud our judgment and make us more likely to believe things that are not true. We easily believe what we want to believe. 

But as far as I'm concerned we shouldn't  be misled that desires only hinder our view of  turth.

Desire needs no knowledge, which is its virtue. It tells us what we want, and it is sufficient unto itself, as a selective advantage.  The outcome of desires can be procreative success, because our wants are the product of selective pressures over thousands of generations coded into our genome as predispositions.

This proverb suggests the importance of being objective and not letting our desires lead us astray.
