Story of crystal skull

This is what I heard: the daughter of a British expedition expert donated a crystal skull to British museum. She said her dad discovered it in a cave in South America somewhere. That thing has magical powers according to local obrigional people. However, some scientists had some doubts about this piece of antique or object. They used modern technology to examine it. After the scientific detection and careful investigation, they concluded that the crystal skull was not the work of ancient people in South America thousands of years ago. Instead, the British archaeologist bought it in Europe about 100 years ago and brought it to South America. He buried it in a cave then "discovered "it a few days later. Basically it is a hoax.
National Geographic channel had a documentary movie about it.
