Meaning: Often those closest to a person don't benefit from the person's expertise

In Chinese, I heard that "裁缝的孩子没衣穿" or "the tailor's children want for clothing."

 

Garrison Keillor joked that the pastor's kids can't name the Holy Trinity after

you give them the Father and the Son, and the orthopedist told his boy with a
