可怜无定河边骨，犹是深闺梦里人。

Having sworn to wipe out the Huns at any price,

Numerous Tang soldiers died fighting the blight.

Sad it is while their remains on battle fields lie,

They stay the same dearly loved in the dreams of their wives.
