谢谢盈盈！ Yes, travel can be a lot of fun, but

only if one is careful enough not to be victimized by crime.  And crime is rampant.  There are the numerous gypsy thieves in Europe.  You run into them everywhere; on buses, trains and in tourist hot spots.  There are so many of them one wonders if they even outnumber the tourists.  One time we were just about to step onto La Rambla in Barcelona when we spotted someone we had got to know on the cruise ship standing right at the entrance to that most famous boulevard.   We asked him if he was going in.  He said he wasn't sure because he was scared of the thieves.  While he was saying this, he had both his hands on his packpack which he was wearing on his front.  Now, some might wonder if he was being unreasonable.  But having had run-ins with thieves in Europe, I knew his worries were fully justified.  In fact there are so many thieves the local police don't even bother arresting them when they get caught.  The police would only ask them to cough up the stolen goods and let them go.
