Do you really mean it
when you hand her the roses, and
utter the four-letter word tonight?
or is it simply a ritual, like many others
we learn and practice
to keep our fragile world harmonious?
She would have been a fool
if you think she did not know.
all those words, arranged in different
colors, forms, seasons, and tones
spell out love, for someone else
someone without a face, or smell, or a voice
“She doesn’t exist”, you told her
“An artistic character in nothingness”
Only that, in days like this
you see her face in the dark, bright as the moon
you smell her flesh, hear her voices
you respond to her smiles and touches
you feel alive again, breaking free
from the emotional lobotomy impinged upon you
You indulge in her tender kisses and caress
You see, my dear
there is no need for the four-letter word, or
roses, candle light dinners, and diamonds
if two hearts are talking love constantly
if two minds are doing it in telepathy every 29.5 days.
thanks to nothingness
there is nothing they can do about it
Raise a glass ——
to the Grand Cru 2015 of nothingness
to every word resonated between two yearning souls
