Tulips are a symbol of spring and are probably the most popular flowers of the season. They never fail to provide visual impacts with their vibrant colours, whether in containers, in gardens, in parks or in vases.
I have a passion for tulips, especially for the large flamboyant double tulips. Unlike the most common types of single petal blooms in a cup shape, double tulips are packed with many petals. They are often referred to as “peony tulips” as their blooms resemble to peony flowers. Despite their large size, double tulip flowers last a long time thanks to the plentiful substance of the blossoms.
There are many varieties of double tulips, but my favorite one is “Blue Diamond”. A few years ago, I bought 10 bulbs of this cultivar from a plants sale booth at our local Fall Festival. Couldn't help falling in love with it at first sight when I viewed the picture on the label. Over the years, my “Blue Diamond” tulips stood out among the spring flowers with its exquisite huge violet purple blooms. They have proven to be strong enough to withstand wind and rain.
