At least to me, it won't make difference.  If I stop at the 10th CD of a 30-CD audiobook, I run the risk of running into another
boring 10-CD audiobook.  So the best caourse for me is to tough it out and wear the boredom down and finish the book
to teh end.  

To me, 11/23/62 is very good so boredom is out of teh question.  The end of book is kind of depressing since all the proganist's
efforts were in in vain
and he had to undo all that he did.
