Convocation is the celebratory public ceremony at which all graduates are individually recognized and hooded by the dean of their academic college. (The Graduate School holds convocation for master’s and doctoral students each year at Bass Concert Hall).
Commencement is a university-wide event featuring performances and guest speakers. This year, President Powers and actress and UT alum Marcia Gay Harden will both address the graduates.
