It is a great article that anyone may reflect on their own value system. It suggests shifting people’s focus of work onto life which is so true to people with a busy lifestyle. I like the way you read it, calm, comfort but persuasive at a right pace as if sharing your insights of life philosophy.

You did very well on a majority of sentences, which contain the exact intonations a native speaker would have, just take a few as examples:

I’m not particularly qualified by profession(平) or education(微降) to give advice(微升) and counsel(降).

Don’t ever confuse the two, your life(微升) and your work(降).

 

When sentences become longer, the intonations could be adjusted slightly to平,微升,微降that tell your audience that “I am not done with my sentence yet.”  

 

 

for example:

But a résumé is cold comfort on a winter night(平), or when you’re sad(平), or broke(平), or lonely(降), or when you’ve gotten back the chest X ray(微升) and it doesn’t look so good(微降), or when the doctor writes “prognosis, poor.” (降)
