I have a different philosophy about "a" "an" "the". I believe they are part of the language that can truely give away your "accent", not the size of your vocabulary or usage of GRE words, but small words like "a, an and the" and other small words like at, from, on. It's not an obsession. It's a strive to reduce my "accent". 

have to go for now. I need more explanation for understandingly and understandably. What did you mean in this context?

The man smiled back, pointing his finger to the TV and said, “He (Obama) is very smart. I like him.” I never knew how to follow a conversion and keep it alive.  So, I smiled understandably and remained silent.
