乌龟 is in one of my childhood memories. That small creature was caught by my mother who was young, kind and good looking, to be my toy, that free gift escaped.
In China the city dwellers were not easy to see 乌龟 except a lot of stone carving 乌龟 as the support of historical remains.
Here in the States I saw 乌龟 twice, each one was an omen for a death of my relatives.

乌龟 is long-lived, because:
夏日炎热时，便成群地寻找阴凉处。
性情温和，相互间无咬斗。遇到敌害或受?吓时，便把头、四肢和尾缩入壳内。 乌龟是杂食性动物。耐饥饿能力强，数月不食也不致饿死。
乌龟为变温动物。水温降到10℃以下时，即静卧水底淤泥或有覆盖物的松土中冬眠。当水温上升到15℃时，出穴活动，水温18℃～20℃开始摄食。
乌龟寿命究竟有多长，目前尚无定论，一般讲能活100年，?有关考证也有300年以上的，有的甚至过千年。乌龟的生长较为缓慢。
