我想网友之间立场观点不同不是大事，我和jennea喜欢抬扛玩，argue的过程中想到很多。我觉得我们大家都来文学城，都来美语世界就说明我们有一个共同的identity，我们都belong to this group，都不想扔掉中文和中国文化，同时又希望自己能通过提高英语更好地融入美国社会，在事业上生活上教育子女上更加成功。在A Free Life里，也提到一些中国人受歧视的一件事，后来不了了之，我其实更希望Ha Jin在这方面扩展得讲一讲：

When their next door house was put out for sale, Nan's friend Shubo is interested in buying it. But his neighbor said, “we don’t want this subdivision to become a Chinatown. ”

Nan was scandalized but didn't know how to argue with him. He managed to say, "All right, ..., you want to keep Chinese as minority here, but don’t you think our neighborhood should be a melting pot?"

"But some people are not meltable."

"Maybe the pot is not big enough. Make it a cauldron, zen everybody can melt in it, yourself included."

Later, after Nan told Shubo what his neighbor said.

Shubo's anger didn't abate, and the more he thought about Alan's words, the more resolved he was--He and his wife must enter into the neighborhood like a thorn stuck in those racists' flesh.
