“carr" is stressed because in the two-syllable word carried,there must be a syllable which is stressed, in this case, the first syllable is stressed, not the 2nd.

I think the important thing here is that "away" is still stressed, i.e., for the pharasl verb, the proposition is the one which is always got stressed, regardless whether or not the verb is stressed. So you are correct!
