I am in the similar situation

I have three kids 14,11 and 7. I decided not to move the whole family back to China because of kids' education and future. If my LG really cares about keeping the family together, he will move his career back here. Otherwise, just let him go.
Your kids are younger. They can adjust easier. If you think that your careers (both you and LG) allow you to move back to the US easily in the future, then take option 2. Just think of this move as a way for your kids to gain international experience.
