Most Japanese Cars Don't Have "Hill Holder"!

Most Japanese cars like Camry or Accord don't have a "Hill Holder" to hold the car when driving uphill.  Many domestic ones like Taurus can hold the car for a couple of seconds.  The trick is just to switch your right foot from brake to gas pedal fast but not too hard to prevent tire spin.  By shifting to "L" helps hold the car?
