Suze Orman touches the subject a little bit. I want to mention it since it applies to the forum discussion.
People give because they want to help others. Helping other in the mean time show your compassion and warmth to others. It makes you a bigger person, a person people can trust, a person who people can turn to when they need help. Management looks for these qualities, business relies on this trust, people want to friend with these kind of people.
Helping others also help yourself. Giving the excess to the needy is a virtue that benefit both you and people in need.
Now let's go back to Xiao subject. Giving to relative in need has deeper meaning than giving strangers in need. Giving to parents has the ultimate meaning. I see the ultimate wisdom of our ancestors, do you?
Why do we give?
