Hi, thank you all for the insights.

The house is 坐北朝南. The deck, backyard and family room faces south which is good. No window on the west wall. Master bedroom faces north, that annoys me. I guess I just have to use more heat in winter. I will save the only south bedroom as parents bedroom.
