回复：自己动手做counter top?

You could try to search craiglist or just try local garage sale for used counter top.

My brother-in-law, who earns a living making minimum wages, bought a small house using his last 10 years saving as downpayment. After he bought his house, he picked up an old counter top from garage sale for $1 and installed in his own basement kitchen. He also bought/picked up cheap/free wood to make a whole set of kitchen cabinet himself for less than $50.

He told me he spent less than $300 bucks to turn his totally unfinished basement into a two bedroom+kitchen apartment and rent it out now. The rental is enough to cover his mortage.

In this country, anyone can live a comfortable living if you are hard working and have HIGH SPIRIT to insist on living a good life -- the latter is especially important.

What I learned from my brother-in-law is that there seems nothing to worry about in this country as long as I have good health.
