not for northern states

my current house has hardward floor everywhere, had to buy many many rags (HomeGoods has best deals btw), it's not warm per se, plus you don't want to ruin the shine with barefoot on it when getting out of shower. Probably hardwood floor is iindeed warm in places like CA...

in northern states, carpet is a hands-down choice for bedrooms. Besides of warmness, kids can run and play harder, which is very important. Make sure get upgraded padding for new carpet, never use the cheap free ones.

the "carpet is dirty" is a myth, anything will be dirty if not well maintained, if previous owner had dirty carpet then it's a good reason to get something perfectly new,
