弄中国签证，是否需要提供国内亲友邀请信？

我大概10年没回国了。国内亲人不多了。 这次想和老婆一起回去走走。 她的10年多次往返签证还有效。 我没有签证。 我申请中国签证，需不需要国内亲友或老丈人家的邀请信？ 还是申请一个旅游签证即可 （L visa?)？
