Dear Judge:
After get off work that day, it was about XXX. I was going to take the light rail home as usual, and my destination was XXX.
My iPad pro doesn't have a data plan. When I was waiting for the train at the station, I used the station's free Wifi to surf the Internet. I was fascinated by a Chinese program at the time and didn't want to miss exciting parts, so I didn't take the train in time and was stranded at the station for a long time without realizing it.
I shouldn't have stayed at the station for so long without security awareness.
But I am not loitering. I am not guilty.
Later, two peace officers issued me a ticket for loitering. They also suspected that I was an Asian woman in the photo on their phone.
I was confused at the time. I didn't know what peace officers about, nor did I know what loitering meant. There was no warning about loitering at the station. I thought they were just ordinary passers-by.
Out of instinctive self-protection, I didn't dare to expose them my personal information such as name and ID. I admit that I had resistance.
Because of my non-cooperation, I was handcuffed, put in their car, searched, and issued a ticket.
If I knew that the peace officer was a law enforcement worker, I would have fully supported and cooperated with him. I will learn from my lesson and not do it again, so as to avoid causing trouble to the hard-working peace officers.
Thanks.
