过去40年法律界有一个 Chevron Doctrine， 就是对于律法条文的模糊之处，可以优先考虑联邦监管机构的解读意见。比如某银行控告FDIC在监管过程中过度引申法律，法院会优先听取FDIC的意见。这次overrule以后，法院必须独立解读，也就是联邦监管机构的权力会被大大削弱。
最近几年企业状告联邦机构过度监管的案例层出不求，这个判例将大大有利于私人资本，也是对近几年政府权力无限扩张的修正，最高法算是做了件靠谱的好事。
