I have similar situation. My understanding is each family is different. Some LG does all, some LP does all. As long your family works for you, that is important. I treat all the house work as exercise. If it is too hard, or it is my down time, leave the house mess, leave the work not done. It is more important keep happy. If you are happy, people around you will be happy. The hard work will not kill you, but whinning will. That is my penny.
