佳能董事长兼首席执行官御手洗富士夫在接受Yomiuri Shimbun（日本五家主要报纸之一）新闻采访时表示，“很明显，无反光镜相机将成为数码相机的主流……市场需求正加速转向无反相机。为此，我们正在稳步转移制造业。”“单反旗舰EOS-1D X Mark III是佳能最后一款单反。”
