- Nathaniel Rowland, 25, was found guilty of murdering 21-year-old University of South Carolina student Samantha Josephson on Thursday
- Josephson was out with her friends in Columbia on March 29, 2019, when she mistook Rowland's car for an Uber
- Rowland trapped Josephson in his car before stabbing her 120 times and dumping her body in the woods
- A jury deliberated for less than two hours before handing down the guilty verdict
- Josephson's mother, Marci, addressed the court before sentencing and called Rowland 'evil', 'pathetic' and 'a monster'
- 'Her dreams were my dreams, and her death was my death. I close my eyes, and I feel what she endured at his hands,' Marci said
- Rowland told the judge: 'I know I'm innocent, but I guess what I know and what I think really doesn't matter'
- He was given the maximum sentence of life in prison
