How In-Home Delivery Works
Receive packages directly inside your home.
Amazon Key allows you to have packages securely delivered inside your home.
On delivery day, you will receive a notification in the morning with a 4-hour delivery window for when the delivery driver will arrive at your home. Right before the driver arrives, you will receive an "Arriving Now" notification and can optionally watch the delivery happening live. The driver will knock first, then request to unlock customer's door via their Amazon handheld scanner. Amazon verifies that the package(s) belong to the address and the driver is near the door, turns on Cloud Cam and unlocks your door. No special codes or keys are given to the driver. The driver will then place the package(s) just inside your door and request to lock the door.
If we cannot confirm the lock was successfully relocked after a brief period, our support team is alerted so they can confirm that the delivery was done properly and your home is secured. Once the delivery is complete and your door is re-locked, you will get a final notification and can watch a video clip of the delivery. You do not need to provide any additional information for the driver, such as keypad codes or remote unlock.
Get started by enabling in-home delivery in the Amazon Key App. Then shop on Amazon.com as you usually do. At checkout, make sure to select the address labeled "In-home eligible" and select a delivery option labeled "In-Home." To learn how to block delivery, visit Block In-Home Delivery.
You can enable in-home delivery during Setup. To enable it manually:
- Open the app menu (three lines in the top-left corner).
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Kit Name under Home.
- Tap the In-Home Delivery toggle on.
To provide delivery instructions, including a gate code:
- Open the app menu (three lines in the top-left corner).
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Kit Name under Home.
- Tap Entry Instructions.
What to expect when you receive an in-home delivery:
- As soon as an item has shipped, you'll see an access card for any upcoming deliveries in the Activity Feed in the Amazon Key App. The Activity Feed will feature a card for each upcoming access of your door. Multiple orders or items may be consolidated into one access. Some item-level details are included in the access card. If you tap View Your Orders on the access card, you will be taken to the Your Orders in the Amazon App to get more information on your order.
- You can watch recorded delivery videos or live-stream in-home delivery using the Amazon Key App. To learn more, visit Watch In-Home Delivery.
- You will receive delivery notifications via the Amazon Key App. To learn more, visit App Notifications.
- If access to the door is blocked because you turned on "block access", the driver will leave the package at your doorstep or at the front desk (if you live in a multiunit building), if possible. To learn how to block delivery, go to Block In-Home Delivery.
