A 74-year-old Easton man was sent to Northampton County Prison on charges he shared electronic files of child pornography.
Weiwu Zhao, of the 200 block of West Madison Street, is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of children, one count of disseminating photo/film of child sex acts and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.
Zhao was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Pennsylvania State Police said shortly before 8 p.m. on Jan. 5 a trooper with the Southeast Computer Crime Unit used undercover software to find searches of the potential abuse of children.
The trooper discovered computer sharing of files and successfully downloaded files identified as child pornography, according to court records. The system allegedly recorded Zhao's IP address.
State police allege he possessed a three-minute, 22-second video of a girl under age 18 involved in sex acts with an adult man.
State police on April 21 searched Zhao's home and allegedly seized more files of child pornography on his computer. Police attempted to interview Zhao, but he didn't speak English, according to court records.
Through translation with his daughter, Zhao told police he doesn't recall downloading child pornography, state police said. The girl told police her father is the only person in the household who uses the computer, according to court records.
Zhao on Tuesday was arraigned before District Judge Daniel Corpora, who set bail.
