Court clerk 就是国内所称的法庭书记员，专司庭审记录和其它有关杂事。

A court clerk (English English clerk to the court; American English clerk of the court or clerk of court) is an officer of the court whose responsibilities include maintaining the records of a court. Another duty is to administer oaths to witnesses, jurors, and grand jurors.

书记员是人民法院和人民检察院司法工作人员之一，是人民法院和人民检察院内担任办理案件的记录工作和有关事项的人员，并协助办理一系列司法辅助工作。大多数审判员（法官）都是从书记员做起。书记员（委任制）一般属于国家公务员（政法专编行政编制），但有些地区也有聘任制和聘用制的书记员。[1]
