Write your request to a piece of paper (the destination and terminal #) and tell your parents to present the note to a flight attendant before they arrive at Detroit. The flight attendant will call in a wheelchair service after the flight arrives at Detroit. The porter helped my parents every single time: carrying the wheelchair my mom sat in, pick up luggages from the bagging claim area to buggies and even carry a buggy sometimes. Don’t forget tips in the end. We only used the United airline before, not sure about other airlines.
