I lived in an apartment in Singapore for two years. The window for one bedroom faces east, and the other one faces west.

I usually live in the room face west. It is very cool at night. I do not need to turn on air conditioner, because the cool wind is very comfortable. However, I need mosquito net.

My neighbor's apartment is quite hot, and the window there face south and north.

So i guess it does not matter which side the window faces. You have to feel the strong wind inside the apartment. Otherwise, you might need to turn on AC all day and night.
