Most of the world old civilized cultures, for instance Babylon, India and Egypt, are gone or changed except Chinese one. Chinese cultures made China great for over two thousand years, which was great and amazing. We Chinese should have every single reason to be proud of it.

However, Chinese cultures work well in a feudal society, not in an industrial society or capitalist society. In most circumstances, most of Chinese cultures are barriers to industrilization and modernization. Mainland China is a mixture of feudal and capital society. That’s why some of Chinese culture is still functioning. Chinese should learn and accept Western cultures, not just political systems or economic systems to catch up advanced countries. To do so, it also requires Chinese to get rid of Chinese culture as much as possible. Otherwise, China would never be rich, advanced and powerful, let lone to be the super power in the world.

That’s true to the entire China as well as to an individual Chinese, especially those Chinese abroad, for instnace, Chinese Americans. Some Chinese culture is good in China, but most of Chinese cultures are not good at all in America. They simply do not work in this country, the model of industrialized capital world. As Chinese Americans, we’ve got to get rid of those bad Chinese cultures, and learned and accept American cultures to be successful in America. In short, we’ve got to be Americanized to be successful in America. Otherwise, we will never feel comfortable in this beautiful country though we try our very best.

Please don’t be mad if our kids do not follow our cultures and forget about our traditions. As matter of fact, it is great as long as they are successful and are happy in their own way, American way.
