请翻译驾驶手册里的一句话。谢谢！

“On passenger vehicles, a load may not extend beyond the line of the tandem.”

这句话在阿拉巴马的驾驶手册里。问了几个美国同事，没人明白“the line of the tandem”是什么意思。
