桐花万里丹山路，
雏凤清于老凤声。

Within plane tree blossoms lining the roads on Mount Danshan,
Sweeter is the singing of young phoenixes than that of seniors.

* Background

桐花万里丹山路，雏凤清于老凤声。
丹山路上桐花万里，花丛中传来一阵阵雏凤的鸣声，这声音比老凤的鸣声来得更清圆。

诗人韩偓，小字冬郎，是李商隐的姨侄。
他少有才华，十岁时曾在为李商隐饯行的筵前赋诗赠别，语惊四座。
后李商隐重吟其诗，作此绝酬答。
这是第一首的后两句，将冬郎及其父亲畏之比作凤凰。
丹山相传是产凤凰的地方，其上多梧桐。
桐花盛开，凤凰偕鸣，其中雏凤鸣声清圆，更胜于老凤。
