姐，容我不同意你的说法一下：

你中英文都很棒，为啥老是说英文基础差！！！走出comfort zone，跟大家一起精读这本名著多好！

关于那两个词，intimate，我觉得下面这两个意思都有点，更接近4.

2 : marked by very close association, contact, or familiarity <intimate knowledge of the law> 

4 : of a very personal or private nature <intimate secrets> 

Veteran bores，veteran就是很有经验的seasoned，old-timer， bore当名词就是让人feel bored的人。

具体到有没有地道的中文相应的词或词组，I doubt，所以我对英译中一直持抵触态度。
