Shape of Moon

 

Shaped by so many poems,

I'm turning into a poem,

One that takes many shapes.

 

I start as a crescent

under Mary's feet

to uplift her glory.

 

Or as Kronos' scythe

to harvest grain.

Had he ever used it

to cut time short?

 

If you see the scythe of me

in the hand of the Grim Reaper,

run as fast as you can, unless you

want a body and soul separation.

 

When I'm a quarter moon,

half mercury, half dark matter,

I'm the art of balance.

 

I don't really want to be full,

at least not for more than a few days.

Realization of all the potential

and nowhere to go but down

is very very unfun.

 

One last shape to mention:

When a cloud covers me,

I'm its silver lining,

the light at the end of

its grief spreading.

 

Constantly changing,

but always returning.

I'm not under the Sun,

so I'm always a new thing.

 

I'm light, I'm darkness,

I'm happiness, I'm sorrow,

I'm love, I'm hatred.

 

When light waxes, darkness wanes.

When happiness waxes, sorrow wanes.

When love waxes, hatred wanes.

And vice versus.

 

Notes:

(1) The crescent under Mary’s feet: in Christian art, the Virgin Mary is often depicted standing on the crescent moon.

(2) KRONOS (Cronus) was the King of the Titanes, the god of time, and the father of Zeus in Greek mythology. He was usually depicted with a scythe for harvesting grain.

(3) Grim Reaper is a personification of death in the form of a cloaked skeleton wielding a large scythe that he uses to cut the last ties between soul and body when a person dies.

 

月的独白

 

 

被太多的诗赋形、代言，

我正变成一首诗，

一首经常形变的诗，

一首会自言自语的诗。

 

有时诗体细如钩，

有时诗体张如弓，

有时诗体圆如盘。

 

当被一小片乌云遮住，

我就是给它镶的银边,

是它的一线光明。

 

银钩，玉弓，或者银盘，

无论以什么形态示人，

我不会把背转过来给人看。

 

一是因为暗箭难防。

想想后羿，

他一直怀疑我引诱了他妻子。

这家伙连太阳都敢射，

何况太阴乎？

 

二是怕被黑洞们当饼吃了，

尽管我的馅是石头的。

它们什么都吃，

有形的月饼，无形的光。

（我二者都没有。）

 

三是背面暗淡无光，

我怕有人骂我昏球。

我的确是球，

而且有些发昏。

（请保守这个秘密。）

 

四是为了礼貌。

把背和腚给人是几个意思？

独白岂不成了放那个气？

 

又到一年中秋，

我能得到最多赞美的日子，

因为给人们带来圆满的希望，

他们会暂时忘了我也会唤起

对分离与残缺的痛苦和失望。

 

在这一夜，见到那么多

明珠在他们的眼角闪闪发光，

抬头望向夜空的人该会看到

明月从他们的檐角扬帆起航。

 

我要走了，

天下哪有不散的宴，

好在我很快会回来，

并且月月如新，

月月有满月的庆典。

 

走之前，问一声，

说了这么多，烦不烦？

毕竟，诺大的夜空里

只有我在独白。

 

没有回答。

只有静电的滋滋声，

以及江河湖海的雪花屏。
