小说嘛，如果典型了就趋于平庸了，没人看了。 Nan Wu的经历不具有典型性，小说里也提到很多人转学计算机，MBA什么的。象学文的，我的同学里转行的居多，没有谁是quit graduate school，在中餐馆打工，当了一阵儿一个中文报纸的editor，后来买了个餐馆开餐馆。后来因为他老婆身体状况不好，需要有health insurance，然后他就去一个motel当front desk clerk，motel的owner想promote他当manager他都不当，因为他想有时间陪家人+写诗。
