I think correcting pronunciation is helpful to improve listening. My ears got so used to wrong pronunciations of the words so I could not figure out the right one.

Also, reading the newspapers and novels would help too. My understanding of the idioms, contexts and expressions are improved by readings.

Just my two cents.
