Depending on different personal experience, personality type and emotional concern, people hold different views towards the argument parents should or shouldn’t limit the hours for children watching TV programs or movies in order for them to do well in school. Some people don’t think it is necessary for parents to limit the hours while other think this is very important for parents to do so and this is also my opinion. Among countless factors which influence why I agree with the point, there are three conspicuous aspects as follows.

The main reason for my propensity for parent limiting the TV hours is that children lack the ability to control themselves. Without a doubt, most children like to spend their free times in front of a silver screen. This is mainly because of the vivid-colored pictures on the screen in addition to the loud, funny and exaggerated sound effects. Without parenting, the children probably can sit there all day long. However, in order for children to do well in school, they need to be positive learners and should have balanced way for their daily schedule. It depends on parents that to limit the TV time and encourage them to do more reading, sports and social.

Another reason can be seen by every person is that silver screen has bad effect on children. According to a recent research, scientist find out that the children who spend more than one hour in front of TV daily tend to have more difficulty to concentrate on their study. This can be easily understood. For example, if the child is still thinking of the "star war" which he watched last night while attending the class, how can you expect he is listening well to the teacher? Their grades will be affected consequently.

Last but not least, children can learn bad things from the TV program or movies easily. Today’s TV programs and movies are often filled with violent behavior such as abuse, murder, and fights and so on for commercial purposes. As young children, they are still lack of the ability to distinguish right from wrong. They might pick up the wrong model to follow and imitate the bad behaviors and attitudes shown through the TV programs. All these facts could lead to damage of children’s interrelationship with teachers and classmates in school.

Taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that in order to ensure children behave well at school and study, parents should insist their children to watch TV programs or movies within limited hours to prevent the negative impacts from their study, behavior and also to help children have healthier daily schedules
