After the house closed, I find out that my agent got a $2000 bonus from seller besides his $5000, 1% commission (2% - 1% rebate to me).
I am wondering what he could do to get a bonus from seller behind my back. At the beginning of negotiating for credit, I think if I get half of the credit from inspection report, that would be good enough. He volunteered to fight for full credit, then in the middle of it, I was told that seller suddenly changed the listing from pending to active again. I checked redfin.com, indeed this weird thing happened to me. How could seller do it after he accepted my offer and my deposit? well, my agent told me that seller got a couple of stronger offers, he is very much willing to back out and relist the property. He is using this as a threat that he will not give any credit. I am pretty happy with my house and am not sure what is really going on, so I take it as "sale as is". All is fine with me until I find out this special bonus from seller. So again, why seller is giving out bonus? I have not talked with my agent on this. I am prudent, I do not want to wrong a person, so I do not know where to start to talk about it. But the fact is there bothering me.
