Revised Trip Plan: Detroit->Arches->Yellowstone ...

I am extremely grateful to many in this forum who provided advise, suggestions & information, which leads to a revised trip plan.

As suggested, I booked 3 days' hotel in West Yellowstone. It's not inside Yellowstone but the hotel is so much more kids' friendly.

This plan is not final. I appreciated your continous feedback. Thanks!

- 15 days in ~5000 miles
~3500 hwy mileage driving in 6 days, the remaining in 9 days
The amount of driving is manageable based on our past experience.

- Safety Practice
Minimal driving after dark, absolutely no driving after midnight
GPS, Flat-n-fix, ...

Must See: Sufficient Time Allocation, Some Trails
Stop & Go: Limited Time Allocation, No Trails

6/24: Home -> Kansas City (767 miles)
6/25: Kansas City -> Boulder (622 miles)


Touring (10.5 days)
6/26: Boulder -> Georgetown (~200 miles)
Must See: Rocky Mtn
6/27: Georgetown -> Moab (~280 miles)
Must See: Arches
Stop & Go: Colorado NM, Scenic Drive 128
6/28: Moab
Must See: Deadhorse Point, Canyonlands, Arches
6/29: Moab -> Bluff (100 miles)
Must See: Arches
6/30: Bluff -> Page (170 miles)
Must See: Monument Valley, Gooseneck
Optional: Antelope Canyon
7/01: Page -> Kanab (168 miles)
Must See: Horseshoe Bend, Grand Canyon (North Rim)
Optional: Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell
7/02: Kanab -> Salt Lake City (302 miles)
Stop & Go: Bryce Canyon
Optional: Zion
7/03: Salt Lake City -> Yellowstone (309 miles)
Stop & Go: Grand Teton
Optional: Jackson Museum
7/04: Yellowstone – Geysers, Springs
7/05: Yellowstone – Canyon & Scenic Drive 296

Return (2.5 days)
7/06: Yellowstone -> Gillette (370 miles)
Must See: Others in Yellowstone
7/07: Gillette -> Sioux City (566 miles)
Optional: Devil’s Tower, Mtn Rushmore, Badland
7/08: Sioux City -> Home (758 miles)
